Biography
Phoebe Allebach (she/her), MSW, is the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Age-Friendly Innovation Center and Age-Friendly Columbus and Franklin County. She joined the Age-Friendly Columbus and Franklin County team in 2023 as a MSW student intern and program coordinator for the Safe Routes to Age in Place project. While studying at The Ohio State University College of Social Work for her Master’s, Phoebe worked in various roles for the grassroots organization Village in the Ville, starting as an AmeriCorps VISTA and concluding her time there as Director. Throughout her involvement with Village in the Ville, Phoebe saw up-close the importance of community-based, interdependent approaches to aging in place. Her interest in working with older adults grew out of her experience as an activities assistant at The Community at Rockhill, a retirement community in rural Pennsylvania where she spent lots of time with residents in memory care. Much of her passion for making communities more inclusive for people with dementia and their caregivers started there and has shaped the focus of her studies and career ever since. Keeping cultural humility and the values of service in social justice at the core of her work, Phoebe is committed to improving the age and dementia-friendliness of our Columbus community.
